How to Increase Your Virtual Memory Size in Windows

If you find yourself frequently using programs that require large amounts of ram or have an old computer that has limited memory resources you may find your system bogs down occasionally. To compensate you can increase your virtual memory in Windows. Virtual memory is Windows way of adding additional memory resources using your hard disc. When the available ram is low Windows will transfer part of the data to the paging file (virtual memory) on your hard disk. By default windows will set the size of the paging file to 1.5 times your physical ram. The maximum size you can be increase it to is 3 times that of your physical ram. Overall performance will slip if the file size is increased to a great extent, but if you frequently use graphics programs or other ram hungry software you may want to increase it beyond the default settings to compensate. To change your virtual memory settings
just follow the instructions below.
